Today, German Club came together to celebrate Oktoberfest (a little late). Oktoberfest is the largest folk festival in the world. Held in Munich from mid-September to the first Sunday in October, Oktoberfest is an important, and well-known, aspect of Bavarian culture.
While the official Oktoberfest in Munich is cancelled again this year due to COVID, we were still able to have a great time eating German(ish) food like pretzels, Bratwurst, potato salad, and sauerkraut. We also served root beer and (non-alcoholic) Glühwein (also known as Kinderpunsch). After our meal, we dressed up in traditional Tracht and played games.
It's my hope to expand this celebration to all German students and their families in the future. Hope to see you next year! Bis dann!
